Q: Susi, tell us about how you got started in millinery.
A: It was actually quite accidental! I’ve always had a love for fashion, but it wasn’t until I started playing around with some vintage hats that I realized I could turn this passion into something more. One thing led to another, and before I knew it, I was completely hooked on millinery.
Q: What is it about creating headwear that excites you the most?
A: I love the transformative power of headwear. A well-designed hat or headband can change an entire outfit and even how a person feels. It’s a form of art that can be both functional and expressive, which I find really exciting.
Q: How did your collaboration with Magpie Style come about?
A: I've always admired what Magpie Style stands for—it's all about empowering women through fashion. So when they approached me with the idea of a bespoke headband collection, I couldn’t resist. It was a perfect opportunity to combine both of our aesthetics into something truly special.
Q: Can you tell us more about the inspiration behind the collection?
A: The inspiration came from a mix of classic elegance and modern flair. I wanted to create pieces that felt timeless yet fresh. The headbands are designed to be versatile, whether you’re attending a formal event or just want to add a statement to your everyday look. Think bold colours, intricate details, and a touch of whimsy!
Q: What has been your favourite part of working on this collection?
A: Definitely the collaborative process. Working with Magpie Style has been incredibly inspiring—they really understand the importance of fashion as a form of self-expression. Together, we’ve been able to push creative boundaries, and I think that shows in the final designs.
Q: How do you see the future of millinery evolving in the fashion industry?
A: I think we’re seeing a resurgence in headwear, especially with people wanting to stand out and express their individuality more than ever. Millinery has this incredible ability to be bold and make a statement, which aligns perfectly with the current fashion movement towards more personalized, unique looks.
Q: Finally, what can we expect from you in the near future?
A: I’m always exploring new materials and techniques, so you can expect more innovation. I’m also thinking about expanding into different types of accessories, not just headwear, but I’ll keep that under wraps for now!
